Kick-Off Webinar

In early July, the Digital Literate project held a webinar for teachers to introduce the MOOC content and the learning platform. The online course includes six modules covering topics from digital and media literacy to creating visual information and using AI in the classroom. Each module combines self-directed training and live workshops, totaling 60 hours of learning. The goal is to empower educators to integrate these topics into school curricula, fostering critical digital skills among teachers and students.

Course 1 | Ai Literacy

Overview

“AI Literacy” is a foundational course designed for high school teachers aiming to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) concepts into their school activities. This course offers a comprehensive introduction to AI, focusing on its basics, the role of chatbots and large language models, and the impact of synthetic media and AI in generating and discerning disinformation. Through a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical applications, teachers will gain the skills and understanding necessary to introduce AI topics in their classrooms effectively.

Course 2 | Media Literacy

When we seek information online, we often encounter content whose author and source remain unknown to us. We frequently consume information without even intending to educate ourselves.
Do we pay attention to who creates the content that informs us about news, events, or opinions on current affairs on social media platforms? When we read news via a Google search, do we know which site is most reliable for a specific subject area? When we encounter photographs, images, videos, are we conscious that they could be manipulated, retouched, or used outside of the context for which they were produced?
The landscape of information has significantly evolved over the past 20 years. The media literacy course we have designed begins here.
