The Digital Literate project is designed to train educators in Digital and Media Literacy, focusing on continuous professional development and collaborative practices. The goal is to improve digital skills among teachers, school leaders, and students, integrating these competencies into the school environment to combat misinformation. Research from the EU Kids Online network revealed that European youths do not necessarily have confidence in using digital technologies, despite spending significant time online, highlighting the need for education in this area.
The role of teachers is central in promoting digital and media literacy in classrooms. The project aims to provide them with guidance, support, and resources to develop appropriate skills and teaching methods. It includes the creation of a training program for educators, encompassing a MOOC and educational materials, and a pilot phase for the practical application of the acquired knowledge.
The outcome of this pilot phase in partner schools will initiate the development of a Catalog of Good Practices and Community Events in Digital and Media Literacy, aiming to expand the project’s impact and engage the school community. This effort also seeks to enhance teachers’ digital readiness and support the broader digital transformation of schools.
